Board members

Colin has a degree in history and a post graduate qualification in IT.  He has spent his working life in IT and business units, primarily in the financial services industry working on systems and business processes such as billing.  He has a strong belief in putting something back into society and is especially keen to do this locally. He spent four years as a councillor on Byfield Parish Council in Northamptonshire and lives in the same village. 

Les is employed as a civil servant with the Ministry of Defence. He was district and town councillor for Bicester West from 1995-99 and vice-chairman of Cherwell District Council in 1997-98.  He was also Mayor of Bicester in 1997-98. He was awarded the first ever Fox FM/Oxford Mail Local Heroes Award for Services to the Community in 1998.

Cllr Stratford is the councillor for Bicester South ward. She is Vice-Chairman of Cherwell District Council, and also Vice Chair of the  Licensing and Service Appeals Panel, and South Area Planning. In addition she is a member of the following committees:  Environment Select, Accounts Audit and Risk, Personnel and General, and Bicester and Ploughley Sports Centre. 

A retired civil servant, John has recently completed a diploma course in resident participation and chairs the resident's panel.  He has worked as a fully qualified craftsman and has gained preliminary, intermediate and advanced certificates in health and safety and in industrial relations.  He lives in Bicester. 

Tony has been a Charter resident in sheltered housing at Golden Villa Close, Banbury for more than four years.  He has been a member of the resident's panel for more than a year. He has a BA from Oxford Brooks University in English and Publishing and ran his own publishing company.  Tony is active in other areas of the community, and acts as an officer and committee member for other local organisations. He was elected onto the board in September 2006. 

Julia has been a Charter resident for a total of 29 years. She works at Banbury school as a learning mentor, working with teenagers.  Through her work, both voluntary and paid, Julia has acquired an understanding of the issues affecting ethnic minorities, people with physical or learning difficulties as well as the elderly.  Julia is a member of Charter's Village Voices Residents Panel and is also a member of the Customer Services Resident Working Group. 

David has been a Charter resident in Bicester since 2004 and a member of Charter's Residents' Voice panel since 2006.  Upon Charter joining the Sanctuary Group, he became Deputy Spokesperson to Sanctuary's National Residents' Forum, representing Charter and its residents at national meetings. David has been responsible for the establishment of a residents' association in Bicester aiming to enable more residents to becom involved in shaping Charter's services and to improve communication between Charter and its residents.

Now retired, Bill has 20 years experience with Nationwide Building Society as assistant treasurer (principal investment and funding portfolio manager responsible for £10 billion of assets).He previously held senior investment posts with Cleveland County Council and Yorkshire Bank.  He is currently a non-executive director of Chesham Building Society. Bill lives in Daventry, Northamptonshire, a short distance from Banbury.
