About us
Charter Community Housing was formed from the Housing Department of Cherwell District Council in March 2004. The majority of the former housing department's staff also transferred to Charter Community Housing. In August 2007 Charter Community Housing became a member of the Sanctuary Housing Group and in April 2008, Charter Community Housing and Banbury Homes came together with part of the Sanctuary Shaftesbury Association to provide residents in Oxford with a joined-up service.

Audit Commission Inspection
Charter Community Housing underwent Inspection by the Audit Commission in March 2006.
We were awarded a fair, one star service with uncertain prospects for improvement.
See the Audit Commission website for the full report. Since the publication of this report we have been working hard to address the areas of weakness identified in the report and joining the Sanctuary Group provides us with the opportunity to improve services even further by utilising the Group's knowledge, experience and resources.
The Group has set Charter the target of achieving a potential rating of a good, two star service with promising prospects for improvement
